Literature:
Giovanni Colombo, una collezione 1959/1977, Editions Marconi, Milan, 1975, p. 32.
Founded in Milan in 1959, the avant-garde artistic collective Gruppo T brought together key figures including Giovanni Anceschi, Davide Boriani, Gianni Colombo, Gabriele De Vecchi, and Grazia Varisco. The group sought to push the boundaries of artistic practice by fostering interactive works - objects, environments, and experiences that actively engaged the viewer and challenged traditional notions of static art.
Now regarded as important pioneers of kinetic and programmed art, Gruppo T laid critical groundwork for subsequent developments in experimental design. Their explorations directly informed the evolution of avant-garde lighting in the following decade, influencing designers such as Joe Colombo, Ugo La Pietra, and those associated with the progressive lighting company New Lamp, who expanded these ideas into innovative, immersive lighting concepts.
