stamped HERMÈS.PARIS (to the gilt metal insert on lid) and stamped HERMÈS (to the leather), incised signatures by members of the House of Orléans (primary claimants to the defunct French throne) and dated 18-9-1954 (to the gilt metal inside of lid), leather, wood and gilt metal

The box was given to Sir Robert and Lady McEwen of Marchmont and Bardrochat for their wedding in 1954, by members of the House of Orléans, the defunct French Royal Family.
The incised signatures include Prince Michel, Count of Évreux, Prince Thibaut, Count of La Marche, Henri, Count of Paris and Isabelle, Countess of Paris.
