Joy Clucas was a pioneering British textile artist renowned for her innovative machine embroidery. Educated at Southampton, Bromley, and Brighton Colleges of Art, she later taught the National Diploma in Design. As a founding member of the '62 Group of Textile Artists, established in 1962, Clucas played a pivotal role in promoting and supporting the art of embroidery. She gained widespread recognition through her publications, Your Machine for Embroidery and The New Machine Embroidery, which significantly influenced the field. Her works are held in esteemed collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.
