Widely recognised as one of the most experimental ceramicists of his time, Abbaro developed innovative surface techniques through pioneering approaches to firing and glazing. He was also a highly respected teacher, playing a key role in shaping the next generation of ceramicists during his tenure as Head of Ceramics at Camden Arts Centre from 1966 to 1990.
