Hurry produced the designs for John Gay's The Beggars’ Opera produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1963. The music was arranged by Raymond Leppard, and the production directed by Peter Wood at the Aldwych Theatre, opening on 16 July 1963.
According to The Daily Mail Hurry’s costumes caught ‘Gay’s bitter spirit perfectly’ (17 July 1963).
