José Parlá is a Brooklyn-based artist known for his dynamic, multidisciplinary works blending abstraction, calligraphy, and urban textures. Inspired by music, dance, and architecture, his layered compositions explore themes of language, identity, and place.
Born to Cuban parents in Miami, Parlá studied at SCAD, New World School of the Arts, and Miami Dade College. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at The Bronx Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and the High Museum of Art. He has also created major public art installations at One World Trade Centre, University of Texas, and Barclays Centre.
His work is held in numerous private and public international collections including The British Museum, London, Pérez Art Museum, Miami, and The National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana.
