Wally Gilbert is one of the most prominent silversmiths working in Britain today, particularly known for his skills in chasing. A completely self-taught maker who began working with lost wax jewellery boxes while silver was too expensive, Gilbert hails from a line of prominent makers: his father was a sculptor, and his grandfather's workshop was commissioned to make the modern gates of Buckingham Palace.
