Kathryn Hinton studied silversmithing and jewellery at the Kent Institute of Art & Design, before going on to study for her MA and MPhil at the Royal College of Art. Whilst studying at Kent, Hinton was introduced to computer aided design and the possibilities of making works of art with digital technologies, which she uses alongside traditional metalworking techniques to explore hammer surfaces and pattern. Hinton currently works from her studio near Edinburgh.
