Description
the ogee moulded and fluted cornice above a frieze with stop-fluted panels separated by carved rosette patera, above a pair of short drawers over three long drawers flanked by angles inlaid with hare-bell trails; the lower part with three further long graduated drawers over gadrooned base moulding and Chinese style bracket feet with trellis carved recessed reserves

The present chest-on-chest, with it's distinctive arched bracket foot and rosette and fluted frieze, is near identical to one previously in the possession of great collector Percival Griffiths, described as a ‘tallboy chest of drawers’ [see illust]. A secretaire chest-on-chest, also from the Percival Griffiths Collection, with a similar foot is illustrated in The Dictionary of English Furniture, pg 146, Fig. 50.
