Everest is Earth's highest mountain with a summit standing at 8848.86 meters, and crosses the border of China and Nepal. The summit was first officially reached, on 29 May 1953, by the Nepali-Indian sherpa Tenzing Norgay and British mountaineer Edmund Hillary. The creation of this vase must have been inspired by the historic achievement.
