Note: The gothic splat pattern, with quatrefoil fret, derives from a chair back design in Thomas Chippendale's 'Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director', 3rd edition, 1762, plate XVI. A similar splat features on a set of chairs illustrated in M Harris & Sons 'The English Chair', London, 1937, plate LXVII.
Keeble Limited was a large firm of decorators, furniture makers and antique dealers during the inter-war years of the 20th century, with showrooms at 34 Grosvenor Square, London.
