the wood disc of pole with an arched silver framework holding a glass grenade, the silver engraved 'From the Flagstaff Bastion Sebastopol, 10th Sept 1855'

Footnote
On the 10th September 1855 celebrations were held for the fall of Sebastopol. The end of the siege at Sebastapol was the last decisive event in the Crimean War, it would appear souvenirs were acquired. This piece of flagpole was later mounted in silver in UK in 1875.
