marked with imported duty mark and two anchors, of oval cushion form, squeeze lid engraved with a bold cypher with European Count's coronet, slightly later engraved armorials to base

Footnote
The armorial bearings as engraved upon the base of this silver tobacco box dating to around the late 17th/ early 18th Century are those of the family of Nichell or its variant spelling of Nichells, Nicolls etc. The armorials on the lid are probably not connected to those on the base.
