Footnote
Jacqueline Mina takes every opportunity to explore her passion for the art of sculpture in her unique jewellery designs. Mina still hand-crafts each piece in her London studio. Many of her signature designs feature twisted sculptural elements utilizing gold with platinum inlays. In an interview with The Jewellery Editor, Jacqueline Mina describes her foray into the world of jewellery. She wished to attend the Royal College of Art in the early 60's and at the time, she explained, women were not accepted into the silversmithing course, so instead she accepted a placement on the jewellery course. She says, 'It was a feeling at the time that men did silversmithing and women did jewellery'. Her accidental passion for crafting jewellery was influenced by René Lalique and the beauty of the natural elements of gold, platinum, and iron pyrite. Most recently her work has been on display at The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh during their Festival exhibition in August 2017. Her work resides in the collections of the Victoria & Albert, the National Museum of Scotland, and the Cooper-Hewitt, the Smithsonian Design Museum in New York.
