Mappin & Webb, London 1920, of octagonal baluster form, S scroll handle, domed lid with stepped finial, engraved with coat-of-arms below a Baron's coronet, motto 'Lucem Spero' translated as 'I hope for light'

The arms are those of Ellesmere impaling Kemp for George Kemp, 1st Baron Rochdale (1866-1945) and his wife Lady Beatrice Mary Egerton (1871-1966), third daughter of Francis Egerton, 3rd Earl of Ellesmere.
