Footnote
The arms as engraved are those of the family of Leigh. They may be
blazoned as follows:
Arms: Sable a fess in chief three mullets of the second the
middle one pierced of the field
Crest: A dragon’s head erased [……?......]
Although these arms are distinctive by their simplicity of design and as such are listed in many heraldic authorities as pertaining to the name of Leigh there appears for some reason a dearth of heraldic and genealogical information regarding the family. There is no clue where they lived.
