Footnote
Malcolm Appleby has been working with metal since 1969 as a silversmith and metal engraver - the word metal being used as he is very well known as one of the finest engravers of shotgun and rifle actions. Steel being an exceptionally hard material soon gave way to his now favoured materials gold and silver, or an amlgum of the two. His work is held in collections ranging from Royal Households, No 10 Downing Street, Bute House to many privaate collections throughout the world.
