Note from the vendor, grandson of the original owner: This pocket watch was presented to Robert Wilson Park (born 1900) on the occasion of his Qualification as a Solicitor in April 1923 when in the employment of the former long-established Glasgow legal firm of Bannatyne, Kirkwood France & Co. He was in private practice in Lanarkshire for sixty years, was a Justice of Peace and later appointed an Honorary Sheriff- Substitute at Hamilton Sheriff Court. The presentation was from Baillie William Davidson, a prominent Glasgow businessman, in partnership with Mr Park’s father in the firm of John Laird & Co., Wholesale Provision Merchants. Baillie Davidson had entered Glasgow Town Council in 1908 as Councillor for the Kingston Ward and later was appointed a Baillie.
