Footnote
One of the most important clans in Scotland, the Douglases became so powerful, that they were regarded a threat to the monarchy.
The crest 'Jamais Arriere' Never Behind or Never look back was primarily used by the Douglases of Angus; and the Douglases of Morton.
Fighting alongside Robert the Bruce for English independence, they then chose the side of the Royalists the battle for the United Kingdom, when they were on the opposing side of the Jacobite rebellions.
