Footnote
This candelabrum is loosely based on a design similar to a pair by Paul de Lamerie of 1731, made for Sir Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford (1676 - 1745)
The design for the candlesticks derive from an "antique" pattern, engraved by Jean Berain (d 1711) dessinateur to King Louis XIV and introduced to London by some of leading Huguenot silversmiths of the early 18th century.
