circa 1823, composed of ten simple hardstone panels, with tapering top, plain rubover setting, engraved to the rear of the clasp 'Mosaique de S Paul Brule, le 15 Juillet 1823'
Footnote
In 1823 a fire started by a workman on the roof destroyed what was one of the five greast basilicas of Rome. Known as The Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls. It was rebuilt over many years with contributions form all over the world. Until the fire it was thought to be the most original of all the churches in Rome dating back to the first century AD where a shrine to St Paul was erected at his grave. The first concecrated church was 324AD
