Footnote
Prasiolite, derived from the Greek meaning leek-green stone, is a translucent green variety of quartz. Most often produced by the heat treatment of violet amethyst or citrine. Throughout history, quartz has been renowned as the chameleon of gemstones, often used to simulate more expensive gem stones ranging from diamond to jade. More recently, the incredible variety of quartz has begun to be appreciated, for its vitreous lustre and beauty in its own right as demonstrated by this unusual lot.
