Why We Still Collect Mourning Jewellery

As we approach the 200th anniversary of Lyon & Turnbull on 18 October 2026, the Georgian society within which the auction house was first founded seems a world away from the 21st Century.

Lyon &amp; Turnbull is excited to announce our first Jewellery auction of 2026, taking place live online and in person from our beautiful Edinburgh saleroom, it includes a selection of carefully selected antique, vintage and modern jewels.&nbsp;Highlights include an interesting selection of Georgian mourning and paste jewellery and a small, but none the less interesting, collection of Scottish freshwater pearl jewellery. We are also delighted to include a selection of jewels by the London based designer Leo de Vroomen, a master of enamel jewels his bold designs are instantly recognisable and rare to the auction market.The auction also includes a select jewel jewels by Hermes, from their Chain d'ancre&nbsp;range, as well as classic pieces by Cartier, Bulgari and Chopard.

Claw-set with a rectangular cushion-cut sapphire, each shoulder set with a row of baguette-cut diamonds and two rows of round brilliant-cut diamonds, stamped 750 18KWith accompanying GIA report, dated 04.11.2011, numbered 510113700923, stating that the sapphire is 3.76cts, of natural origin, showing indications of heat treatment.
