Lyon &amp; Turnbull is pleased to announce our upcoming Jewellery auction, taking place live and online from Edinburgh, presenting a curated selection of fine jewellery spanning antique, vintage and contemporary designs.We are particularly excited to offer a selection of Scottish pearls (lots 1-37), including an impressive Scottish freshwater pearl pendant of rare size and quality, set in an 18ct gold multi-gem-set mount, it presents a rare opportunity for collectors of Scottish cultural and natural history.&nbsp;Also included in the auction is a private collection of over fifty pieces by the German based fine jeweller, Peter Plöderl (lots 38 to 90). Working almost exclusively to commission, Plöderl’s pieces are all unique in style and quality, often including ‘found objects’ from the ancient world, including ancient Egyptian and Grecian relics.The auction also includes pieces by makers such as Cartier, Tiffany, De Beers, Chaumet; as well as a wide selection of antique pieces including a late 19th century diamond tiara/necklace and a rare late 19th century colour change sapphire brooch.Special thanks to the team at&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.timorousbeasties.com/"> Timorous Beasties in Glasgow</a> &nbsp;for very kindly supporting our photo shoots.&nbsp;

The oval-cut sapphire, in a four-claw setting, between fanned shoulders of tapered baguette-cut diamonds, to a hinged band, sapphire approx. 6.80 carats, diamonds approx. 0.80 carat total, ring size T½The sapphire has been assessed by GCS and a verbal result given that the sapphire is of Sri Lankan origin, showing some indications of heat treatment.
