supported on a high cylindrical foot tapering towards the top, the finely potted sides curving gently to a flared rim, decorated on the interior in intense cobalt blue with four continuous friezes of Buddhist prayer written in lança script, enclosing a roundel of further enlarged lança characters, the exterior decoration repeating that of the interior, the six-character apocryphal Xuande mark inscribed on the inside of the hollow foot
