Description
ink and gouache on paper heightened in gold, the text with 16 lines of black nasta'liq organised in four columns with gold and polychrome rules, the miniature below expanding to the left margin, likely from the story of Rustam, the latter depicted in a tiger-striped yellow tunic on horseback at the centre of the battle, with other figures on horseback and on camels, with added Mughal-style illumination below, the miniature originally from another folio, laid down on card

The detail of the painting is superbly executed in the Mughal-court style, with each individual in different coloured tunics.
