of square form, moulded and decorated in a turquoise glaze with a calligraphic inscription in relief, that reads: ‘… the greatest …, the …’. , with a wide band of an intertwined vegetative design above

Footnote
This beautiful turquoise-glazed tile would have decorated the exterior of an edifice and captured the bright sunlight. The inscriptions include the word al-a‘zam (the greatest) which appears most often in inscriptions of the period as parts of titles, e.g. al-sultan al-a‘zam (the greatest Sultan).
