Footnote
This Iznik dish is rather unusual for not having the traditional ‘rock and wave’ rim. Instead, the artist has painted a narrow rim and allowed more space for the overall design.
A closely related Iznik quatre bouquets dish is in the Musée National de la Renaissance – Chateau d’Écouen. See, Frédéric Hitzel et al. Iznik – L’Aventure d’une Collection, Musée National de la Renaissance – Chateau d’Écouen, Paris, 2005, No. 175, p. 155, and for a comparable dish in the Benaki Museum, Athens, please see John Carswell & Mina Moraitou and Melanie Gibson, Iznik Ceramics at the Benaki Museum, Benaki Museum - Gingko, London, 2023, No. 39, p. 93, and lastly for comparable compositions, although with the rock and wave design rim, in the Koc collection, see Hulya Bilgi, The Omer Koc Iznik Collection, 2015, nos. 124-126.
