Description
gouache on paper heightened in gold, within a red border with black margin line, the mahout who is dressed in a white robe and orange turban and holding an ankus, rides his elephant through a rural scene with tufts of grass below, the elephant richly adorned in coloured cloths with a golden saddle and bridal wear, inscribed to the top of the red border in black ink: ‘hathani lichhami / maharana sri partap sighji chhota ri var ro’, verso inscribed with the royal Mewar inventory number 13/45, mounted, glazed and framed
