the clock with a white enamel dial inscribed 'Lemerle - Charpentier & Cie., Bronziers, Paris, 8 Rue Charlot', in an ornate glazed gilt bronze case, the eight day movement stamped and striking on a bell, 38.5cm high; together with a PAIR OF GILT METAL AND PORCELAIN CANDLEABRA, the ovoid enamelled bodies below four sconces, 40.5 cm high (3)

Note: Lemerle-Charpentier has its origins in the 16th century, and was known for its impressive gilt bronze clocks and garnitures. The original company changed name in 1860 before becoming Lemerle-Charpentier in 1870.
