Description
of unusual proportions, inscribed in ink to the top 'Presented to Rev. H.M. Lamont by J.w. Inglis C.b (?), an old student in St. Andrews, 18**' and to the side bearing also in ink 'This ball was made by Wil. Robertson, 1790, Father (?) of Allan , the famous golfer', with protected lacquer to ball.

Provenance: The vendor purchased it from one of the Kerr’s in St. Andrews in the early 60’s He also purchased many early longnoses and a square toe from the same family member……. The writing is unknown, as it was Allan's Uncle Wil Robertson not his father?
