Footnote
The Holbrook meteorite fell near the Aztec train station, about six miles east of Holbrook, Arizona. Witnesses observed a brilliant fireball traveling from west to east before exploding high above the area around 6:10 p.m. Residents reported that stones seemed to rain from the sky, drawing crowds from Holbrook to collect the fallen meteorites. An estimated 100,000 stones fell, most of them small, ranging from tiny fragments to a few kilograms in weight. Ward’s Scientific purchased much of the material and distributed it to universities, museums, and collectors around the world. As a result, Holbrook became one of the most widely represented meteorites in collections and remains a well-known historic fall.
