a Roman orange glass intaglio, engraved with the image of a bird; a Roman carnelian intaglio engraved with the image of a heron; a Near Eastern, possibly Persian, carnelian intaglio of a seated figure holding a knife; a 19th century Roman style carnelian intaglio gold ring depicting an erotic scene; a Roman orange glass intaglio, engraved with the image of a fly; a Roman orange glass intaglio, engraved with the image of a wolf; a Roman or Greek carnelian intaglio engraved with an image of Triton (reattached from two parts); an Ancient Egyptian style black stone scarab seal; an ancient Roman style cameo of a dual portrait; a 19th century carnelian intaglio engraved with the image of a helmeted warrior; a Roman orange glass intaglio, engraved with the image of Hermes; a Roman orange glass intaglio, engraved with the image of a striding figure; two blue glass cameos depicting the Star of David; a Roman orange glass intaglio, the engraving very worn (15)

Dr. Maeder, a Swiss lawyer by profession, was also a published author with broad intellectual interests encompassing travel and Japanese art. He formed the greater part of his collection during the 1930s–1950s.
