Description
carved alabaster, Isis is shown seated on a tall, rectangular throne, nursing the infant Horus, she wears a tripartite wig, with perforations at the forehead and crown indicating the former attachment of a bronze headdress in the form of a solar disc flanked by cow horns, originally secured by a pin or dowel

Previously in the possession of Ms. D.S., who acquired the piece in Egypt during travels in the early 20th century

The present piece can be most closely associated with a similar figure of Isis nursing Horus currently housed at the Brooklyn Museum (accession number 37.400Ea-c), which itself was reputedly found in Saqqara and has been dated to the second half of the 25th Dynasty to 26th Dynasty (712 - 525 B.C.).
