Description
The Thomson Atlas is the great aristocratic atlas of Scotland, originally published in 1832 is was a milsetone in historic mapping. In sumptuous colour it is designed for display and the double page spreads of mountains and rivers are works of art in their own right. Perhaps you wouldn’t want to navigate round Scotland with it but it is a visual treat and the first atlas to cover all of the country. This facsimile edition, produced by Birlinn, has two new essays by Professor Charles W.J. Withers of the University of Edinburgh and by Chris Fleet and Paula Williams of the National Library of Scotland.
