Footnote
Abbotsford is the magnificent home created by Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832). Scott called Abbotsford his Conundrum Castle, and it is within the study at Abbotsford that Scott wrote his greatest works which made him the best-selling author of his day. Abbotsford is also home to Scott’s intriguing treasure trove, a globally important collection of more than 9,000 books and 4,000 intriguing objects which inspired him as he wrote. We can still follow in Scott’s footsteps today through the beautiful walled gardens and woodland walks he created in Abbotsford’s landscape of folklore and legend.
