the bell top case with a brass handle above a break-arch dial plate with a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, enclosing an engraved plaque 'Thomas Hine/ Fleet Street/ LONDON', a date and false pendulum aperture, with a subsidiary STRIKE/SILENT dial to the arch, pierced brass spandrels; the eight-day repeating movement striking a bell, with verge escapement and bob-pendulum, the engraved backplate signed Thos. Hine./ LONDON., on a moulded plinth base
