the shelved superstructure on brass columns, above a long frieze drawer with ebony stringing and a pair of glazed doors with eglomisé panels depicting shelves of books, flanked by spiral turned columns carved with lotus and surmounted with brass capitals, on ring turned feet; the painting signed 'James Maggs - Painter/ Bath/ July 1832'
