Note: A note on the back of the frame reads: 'This fan was brought back from India by William Taylor Money as a present for his wife Eugenia Kyrle Money. He had it made with her initials on it, date about 1790. Now the property of her great, great grand daughter Enid Money Campbell. [? To be given to Susan Ryder Enid Money]'
Sir William Taylor Money (1769 – April 1834) was an English naval captain in the East Indian Company, superintendent of the Bombay Marine and MP in the British Parliament. A portrait of him and his two brothers hangs in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. It is entitled 'The Money Brothers: William Taylor, 1769-1834, James, 1772-1833, and Robert, 1775-1803, by John Francis Rigaud.
