with various emblems, buildings and inscriptions local to Edinburgh, including Britannia flanked by ships, above the Scottish arms, Holyrood Palace, the Register Office, the University, Heriot's Hospital, Nelson's Monument, the Royal Institution, and various churches of Edinburgh, named and dated 'JAMES JONES/ TROON/ ANNO DOMINO 1856' and with maker's inscription 'D. GOURLAY PLUMBER CARVED ME WHEN HE WAS AGED SEVENTY'
