Note: The Royal Patriotic Asylum for Boys, in Battersea, was founded in the late 1850s and funded by the Royal Patriotic fund. The school, and its companion school for girls, was established for children orphaned by the Crimean War. From 1883 the building has been the home of Emanuel School.
