the brass breakarch dial with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, the gilt centre with engraved foliate scrolling design, subsidiary second dial and date aperture below, pierced foliate spandrels, the arch with signature roundel signed ‘Alexr Miller, Edinburgh’, the line inlaid mahogany case surmounted by an eagle finial, over a broken swan neck pediment with relief carved foliate panels, the dial door flanked by gilt metal mounted free fluted columns, over a trunk with arched door flanked by quarter fluted columns, the centre of the door with marquetry twin handled cup, on a square plinth base with marquetry shell to the centre and bracket feet, the twin train weight driven movement striking to a bell
