the brass breakarch dial with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, signed ‘John Hamilton, Glasgow' to the chapter ring, the floral engraved centre with subsidiary second dial and date aperture below, pierced winged zephyr spandrels, the arch with painted scene of a bay with rough seas and a lighthouse for a ship automaton piece (lacking), the flat caddy top case with dentine frieze over relief carved lattice panels, the dial door flanked by brass mounted three quarter spiral columns, the rectangular trunk door flanked by carved Corinthian quarter spiral columns, on a square plinth base with bracket feet, the twin train weight driven movement striking to a bell
