Footnote
During the 18th century, the Dutch Republic was deeply divided between the Orangists (loyal to the Stadtholder, the House of Orange) and the Patriots (who opposed monarchical power). Owning and displaying Orangist Delftware, which featured monarchs, royal coats of arms, or orange symbols, was a bold display of royalist support.
