watercolour on ivory, the sitter with natural brown hair wearing a white shirt and stock and black coat, against a light background, the reverse with a lock of hair on an opalescent ground, set as a wheat sheaf with gold thread and monogrammed initials in a seed pearl surround, within a blue guilloche enamel border, set in an unmarked yellow metal frame with suspension loop
