watercolour and body colour on ivory, oval, the sitter wearing a white shirt, stock and a blue coat, the reverse with plaited hair and yellow metal monogram ‘JA’, within a blue guilloche enamel border, set in a yellow metal frame with suspension loop, with a red fitted leather case
