the oval top with a reeded edge, opening with a telescopic action to accommodate four leaves, raised on moulded square section legs with carved with trailing harebells and ending in acanthus carved block feet with large brass castors; makers stamp on the frame with serial number A7288

Morison & Co. was originally founded in Ayr in 1802 by Matthew Morison, it was later expanded out to George Street in Edinburgh, as well as opening a branch in Glasgow. In its time, Morison & Co. was one of the leading furniture and cabinet makers in Scotland, and their works were used to furnish Lauriston Castle in Edinburgh.
