William McLaren (1923-1987) was a Scottish painter and illustrator whose career most notably led him to be commissioned to paint a mural at Wemyss castle. During his lifetime he also illustrated a large number of dust jackets and was an illustrator for the Radio Times, before eventually opening a furniture shop on Dundas Street in which he sold hand-painted pieces.
