Footnote
Ross & Co. of Dublin were manufacturers of campaign furniture during the Victorian period from 1820-1905. During their time, they gained the approval Albert Edward, the Prince of Wales as well as becoming a recommended service of the British Army. The work of Ross & Co is distinguishable by their prolific and unusual use of walnut for campaign furniture, as well as their maker’s mark which was typically painted on using a stencil or made with brass or ivory and later attached onto the piece.
