Description
the first an enamelled metal tobacco jar of oval form with a white metal cover centred by an oval relief-carved carnelian plaque depicting the Judgement of Paris; the other a French walrus ivory and white metal mounted snuff box of shell shape, the cover carved to depict Judith beheading Holofernes (2)

9cm high, 5cm wide, 6.5cm deep; and 7cm wide, 2.5cm high, 4.5cm deep

CITES STATUS: Walrus Odobenus rosmarus– CITES Appendix III (Only in Canada & Denmark), Annex B - Excluded from the 28 January 2025 extension of other marine ivory species to the Ivory Act 2018 (2022) - This piece has been examined and from the lack of Schreger lines and the appearance of a core section it has been attributed to be walrus ivory
